Well it was a very mixed season some good but some bad!

April 2016 – Croix en Ternois, France – Camathias Cup

Good start to the season, there were 3 Camathias Cup races and Bill & Bert won all 3!

30th April/1st May 2016 – Hengelo, Holland – Camathias Cup

They broke down on the warming up lap of the first race, there was engine problems with vibrating and only firing on 1 cylinder. So, they had to change engines for the 2nd race. In the 2nd race they came 2nd. Hengelo is quite a long road circuit, just over 3 miles long. The 750cc sidecars are mixed in with the big sidecars.

June 2016 – Cadwell Park – Camathias Cup and CRMC Round

Unfortunately, during the first race Bill & Bert went off the track at Mansfield trying too hard and when they went to re-join the circuit they hit a rumble strip the wrong way and launched the bike. They did not come off the bike, but Bill crashed down heavily on the carburettor protector and broke 2 ribs. Then on the same lap between the hairpin and barn bend due to Bill blacking out because of the excruciating pain he lost control. So that was that of the weekend’s racing!

July 2016 – Spa Francorchamps – Bikers Classic

Bill & Bert were both very lucky again to be invited and take part in the Bikers Classic at Spa-Francorchamps. It was a very enjoyable weekend parading with the likes of Rolf Steinhausen, Ralph Bohnhurst and Werner Scwarzel without the stress of racing! There was the biggest display of BMW Rennsports ever formed together.

August 2016 – Donington Park – Camathias Cup and CRMC round

In the first Camathias Cup Race Bill & Bert won the 750 class and they came 2nd in the second race but because they put up the fastest time of both races they were awarded overall winners.

August 2016 – Gedinne – Camathias Cup

A disastrous weekend’s racing. In the first race a cam follower broke, when the tungsten came unwelded. They managed to change engines for the second race but due to a faulty conrod it blew the engine to smithereens…………., so that was the end of 2016’s racing season.

Bill came to a big decision that sadly that was the end of his love affair with Nortons!

Bill & Bert managed to finish 4th in the 750 class of the Camathias Cup for 2016.
